Loan Application Register (LAR) & Transmittal Sheet (TS) Raw Data
Each of the .zip archives listed below contain five files:
- A comma-seperated values (.csv) data file suitable for Excel and other statistical programs.
- A fixed-column data file (.dat) for use with the statistical software programs listed below.
- A SAS (.sas) program to read the .dat file.
- An SPSS (.sps) synyax file to read the .dat file.
- A Stata dictionary (.dct) file to read the .dat file.
- A Stata do-file (.do) to use with the .dat and .dct files above.
Each of the program files above will require some minor editing to use on your computer.
Documentation
Please note that each of the data files provided here have two variables not included in the original HMDA data:
- cntyfips - the combined county and tract fips codes.
- syracuse - a dummy variable inidcating if a particular record/observartion is within the City of Syracuse. 1 = "Syracuse" 0 = "Not in Syracuse".
- Code Sheet lists the values of each of the variables and their meaning
- LAR Record Format describes the record format of the ORIGINAL data file, not the one contained in the .zip archives above
